March 30, 2023 (KHARTOUM) – Khalid Omer Youssif, Spokesman of Sudan’s Political Process denied postponement of the signing of the final political agreement.
“The civilian and military parties continue discussions on some minor issues of the final agreement. No decision has been issued by any party on the signing (of the agreement) next Saturday,” said Youssif.
He further stressed that discussions would continue on Thursday and Friday, and if any changes occur, the civil and military signatories of the framework agreement would meet to decide on them, and inform the public opinion.
Media reports said on Thursday that the signing of the final agreement has been postponed due to renewed differences between the army and the RSF at the closing session of a workshop on security and military reform on Wednesday.
Yasir Arman, a Forces for Freedom and Change (FFC) spokesman denounced the “masters of cunning and conspiracies” of the former regime accusing them of seeking to undermine the ongoing political process to restore the civilian rule
The ongoing discussion deals with “issues of leadership and control, the duration and timing of the merger, which will be resolved in the interest of the people, and the signing of the final agreement, despite the conspiracies of the remnants,” Arman added.
The parties to the political process agreed to sign the final political agreement on April 1, the transitional constitution on April 6 and to form the new civilian government on April 11
