Somalia records 247 new coronavirus cases – BNN | Warar Sugan


Somalia confirmed 247 new positive Covid-19 cases in the past 48 hours bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 14,368.

143 more people were reported to have recovered from the disease, hence the total number of recoveries is now at 6,152.

Unfortunately, 24 people have succumbed to coronavirus in the country, the total number of fatalities now being 745.

Somali president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo urged people on Thursday evening to get a COVID-19 vaccine to the people who are still hesitant.

“I urge you to heed the Ministry of health advice and get the COVID-19 vaccine, it is safe. I have received the vaccine and many Somalis have received it and it is a safe prevention,” Farmaajo said.

The president also prqised healthcare workers for their role in the fight against COVID-19 as cases mount in the Horn of African nation.
