Interest for Real Madrid midfielder Isco is reported from a number of sides, but a reunion with former boss Rafael Benitez could be an attractive prospect for the Spaniard.
However, of late Isco has struggled to remain a common feature at the Bernabeu.
The midfielder has started just twice in La Liga this season under Carlo Ancelotti. Furthermore, it seems his time in the Spanish capital may be coming to an end.
A deal for the 29-year-old would not be too expensive, as his contract runs out at the end of the season. Real may be willing to let him go on the cheap in January, so as to not miss out on a fee entirely, given their current financial troubles.
Everton have cropped us as a side who may be interested, among others, according to Mundo Deportivo. The source in fact claims that the Toffees have one of the ‘best’ chances to land him.
Isco played under Toffees boss Benitez in 2015, scoring three goals and assisting six in 20 games.
With Everton offloading James Rodriguez to Qatar recently, there is space for an attacking midfielder to join the team.
Isco seems to fit the bill perfectly. He is a versatile player, who is able to play in midfield or out wide.
His versatility means Everton could play him, while also having space for Demarai Gray and Andros Townsend. The pair have impressed massively since joining in the summer.
It remains to be seen whether Everton will make an offer, but the situation seems perfect for both sides.
Isco could join in-form Everton side
Everton have been one of the most surprising sides in the Premier League so far this season. Summer additions made by Benitez are partly to thank for that.
The Toffees sit in fifth place after a 1-1 draw with Manchester United on Saturday, and are only two points behind league leaders Chelsea.
Townsend has eight goal contributions in all competitions from nine games, and Gray has four from nine.
Clearly, Benitez knows how to get the best out of a player. Everton paid £1.8million for Gray, and Townsend was a free transfer, highlighting the position their careers were in.
If Everton were to sign Isco, surely Benitez would be able to help him find top form in his career once again.
