Antonio Conte to Tottenham Hotspur a ‘Done deal’ according to reports.

Antonio Conte to Tottenham Hotspur a ‘Done deal’

Conte on the verge of joining Tottenham Hotspur

According to TalkSPORT reporter Alex Crook, Antonio Conte’s rumoured move to Tottenham Hotspur is a ‘done deal’.

The Italian stepped down from his role in charge of Inter Milan seven days ago, just weeks after guiding them to their first Serie A title in a decade. After Carlo Ancelotti rejoined Real Madrid, rumours that the ex-Chelsea boss would return to the Premier League with London rivals Tottenham Hotspur picked up pace.

Spurs have been without a manager since April, when they dismissed Jose Mourinho six days before their Carabao Cup final fixture against Manchester City, which they lost 1-0. Ex-player Ryan Mason has been in temporary charge since, guiding the side to a position in the Europa Conference League next season.

However, it appears as if the deal for Conte is in the final stages, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that Daniel Levy is also in talks to bring ex-Juventus director of football Fabio Paratici in to work alongside the incoming manager.

Another serial winner to come unstuck at Spurs?

It was just eighteen months ago that serial winner Jose Mourinho was being paraded around by Daniel Levy, signing a four year contract in November 2019. Despite guiding him to a final (that he ultimately did not take charge for), his exit was welcomed by Spurs fans due to his stagnant brand of football.

Conte may be a completely different proposition. Leaving Inter Milan due to financial concerns, one can only assume that he has been promised financial backing by Levy to help return Tottenham to the Champions League places. Notorious for success domestically, fans can expect a significant squad overhaul this summer as the Italian seeks to implement his style onto the side.

What does all this mean for Harry Kane?

Harry Kane has gone on the record saying that he wants to leave the club to win trophies, with Spurs’ last success coming in 2006.

However, with the arrival of Antonio Conte, Kane may now feel as though the club are capable of truly challenging the Manchester Clubs and Liverpool for the country’s major honours. This change of feeling could spell a decision to remain in North London, although only time will tell if this is the case.

Either way, it seems as if Tottenham have got their man.
